“uBuntu – The Spirit of South Africa” is a course on uBuntu - specially designed for the global and international community. For individuals and or groups living outside of South Africa and or visiting our beautiful country… People that have a love for and or a special interest in South Africa. It is for people who want to learn what the HEART, the Spirit, and the Soul of South Africa is all about.  

 

The course provides a comprehensive answer to the question: “What is uBuntu?” whilst giving students a colorful insight into South African culture and traditions.

 

The course is meant to help people realise the value and the importance of uBuntu not only for the benefit of South Africa, but the whole world.

 

The course is an honoring and a celebration of uBuntu and the spirit of South Africa as a link in the chain of our shared story, a voice in our global chorus, a page in the book of the world, notes in the song of humanity.

 

The course that is suitable for people aged 15 and older consists of nine lectures:

 

  1. Welcome to South Africa 4.55
  2. Call for uBuntu 8.44
  3. Worldviews 10.15
  4. Origins, Meanings, and Definitions 11.12
  5. Mother Nature 5.42
  6. Values and Principles 9.02
  7. Hospitality 11.21
  8. Formal Presence 7.48
  9. Cultural Expression 8.38
  10. Alive with uBuntu 15.35
  11. Hey, We Have uBuntu! 4.28

 

 

COURSE STRUCTURE AND PROCEDURE.

The course contains two elements:

 

  • Course video lectures (two hours in length in total)

 

  • Open book exam.

The course exam is open book. The exam paper is provided at the time of registration, making it possible for students to complete the exam as they are watching the videos.  The exam contains factual questions as well as questions that require personal insight.    

 

Course duration.

Students are generally allowed thirty days from day of enrolment to watch the lectures and to submit their exam answers.  We reserve the right to disqualify students that do not finish within this time limit. Special time arrangements can be made for groups.

 

uBuntu Keepers certification.

Students receive their uBuntu Keepers certificate within seven days of submission of their exam answers.

 

Advancing through the lectures.

Students are required to move through the lectures sequentially.  To move to the next lecture requires completion of the one before.

 

Tracking student progress.

Student progress is tracked throughout the study process.
